About

My name is Christian Fox. I’ve been a professional tuner since 2016 after graduating from the Newark School of Piano Repairs and Maintenance. Although I’ve been not tuning all that long I’ve had some brilliant and exciting opportunities. I tuned for Bob Dylan during his UK tour in 2022 which was a joy. I’ve tuned for Splendour festival. I regularly tune for the Nottingham Motorpoint Arena, the Albert Hall, for events at Nottingham University, and several Midlands recording studios. I have also been trained by Yamaha on one of their regular piano tuning courses.

Recently I’ve had the honour and pleasure of tuning the pianos of Laura Kidd (Penfriend, She Makes War), Alfie Sharp, and Robert Mitchell.

My hours are 10-5 Monday to Friday, but I can occasionally work weekends if absolutely necessary. In terms of availability, my work diary tends to fill up quite quickly  but I can usually accommodate for what time and date best suits you and get out to your piano within 1 to 2 weeks.

  1. Hello Christian
I wondered if you were tuning pianos whilst it’s lockdown. I’d understand if you can’t.
When you’re able to work again, please could you contact me? Thanks a lot.

    1. Hi Becky,
Yes I am still working. If you would like your piano looked at, as long as we both maintain safe distance and wear masks, that should be fine. To arrange a tuning I recommend you call me on 07528322262 or you can leave your number here and I will call you as soon as I can.
      Kind regards,
      Christian

  2. Dear Christian,

I hope this email finds you well?
A little bit of background information on myself; I’m currently the Service Manager for Health Care of the Older Person at Nottingham University Hospitals and specialise in dementia, frailty and rehabilitation of the older person. As you will be well aware NUH have had a really difficult time over the last year with covid, both patients and staff have lost loved ones as well as faced extremely difficult times across the trust as whole.

I’m writing this email in the hope that you might be able to help us? We currently have a Piano on one of our rehabilitation wards however its in desperate need of tuning. The patients on our ward love nothing more than to sit around the piano whilst one of our very talented nurses play for them. This was a saving grace during covid and offered our patients a sense of normality and happiness, however its come to the point now where the nurse is just not able to play due to the tuning of it. With this in mind I wonder if you might be able to help by tuning this Piano for us out of the goodness of your heart given the huge financial restraints the hospital is under? In turn we will tweet about your business across the NUH Medicine twitter page which has a following of approx. 3000 people as well as a retweet by the NUH trust which has 20000 people following its page, resulting in huge exposure of your services and business.

I look forward to hearing from you. If you would like to discuss this in more detail please feel free to give me a ring on – 07812277287

    1. Hi Lauren,

I would be more than happy to come and see what I can do free of charge! Can you send me the details of exactly where the piano is (is this QMC, and which ward etc…) and then I shall look at my calendar. Currently I think I may be able to fit something in between the 2nd and 4th of June if that works?

      Kind regards,

      Christian

  3. Hi,
I’m just in the process of buying a secondhand upright piano and will be looking to get it tuned once its settled for a couple of weeks. I’m looking at some quotes for this and can see the prices on your website. Do you think it would require just a fine tune or a pitch and fine tune? I don’t think it’s really been played in a year or two.
    Thanks in advance

    1. Hi Laura,

It is likely it would need a pitch and fine but not definite. It depends upon how regularly it has been tuned and looked after up to this point. I would say be prepared for a pitch and fine. If you’d like to book something in please feel free to give me a call!
